Our Values

The same values in words children can understand.
Read them together at home.

01 CONNECTION

We belong to everyone and everything around us.

You're connected to yourself, your friends and family, animals, plants, even the earth and sky. Nothing you do happens alone; every choice touches something. When a friend goes quiet, or an animal seems scared, or someone's having a hard day, you feel it with them and do something about it.

Real connection is honest too. You tell the truth and play fair even when nobody's watching, because a friendship built on a lie isn't really a friendship. And connection means being kind and curious towards people who look, think or live differently from you.

02 AGENCY

Your choices are your own. So is what happens next.

You get to think for yourself and choose for yourself. That's your freedom. Your freedom is real, but it stops where it would take away a friend's freedom, hurt an animal or spoil a space you share. You also take care of what happens because of your choices. That's your responsibility. They always travel together.

You're not just free to do what you want. You're a real partner in your family, your school and your world, with a real say in things.

Everyone makes mistakes. When you get something wrong, you say so, say sorry, help put it right and try again. And when someone says sorry to you, you give them the chance to try again too.

03 CREATION

Making, learning, and inventing is just how we live.

Every day you make things: drawings, ideas, stories, games. Every day you learn something new and find a better way to do it. That's not a special activity. That's just what being alive means.

Asking questions is part of it too. It's okay not to know something, and it's okay to change your mind when you learn more. And because everything you make uses something from the world, you get to think about that too, and make things worth making.

04 JOY

Joy lives inside you. â€‹

Real joy doesn't come from what happens to you. It grows inside you, and it gets bigger when you share it.

It's okay to feel sad, angry or scared. Everyone does, and you never have to hide it. Those feelings can visit, but they don't get to stay forever. Your joy is the home you come back to, even on a hard day.

05 REGENERATION

We don't just take care of the earth. We help it grow stronger.

We live with the earth, not on top of it. It isn't ours; it's something we're part of, like the trees, animals, rivers and sky.

Regeneration means leaving things more alive than you found them: planting a seed and watering it, feeding the birds, building a bug hotel for insects, mending a broken toy instead of throwing it away, or helping a friend feel better after a bad day. Not wasting things, like turning off a light or finishing your food, is a good start. Helping things grow is even better. Every choice is a chance to leave things a little better than you found them.

Our Values (Adults)

01 CONNECTION

The right relationship with everything is where we start, not something we add on later.

We're connected to ourselves, each other, every living being, the planet and universe we're part of. That connection isn't passive: when someone struggles, when a friend goes quiet, when something needs attention, we notice and act. It isn't real if it isn't honest. We tell the truth, treat people fairly whether or not anyone's watching, and keep our word, because a connection built on anything less isn't connection at all.

Connection also means honouring differences. We respect people who think, live and believe differently from us, and we meet them with curiosity rather than judgement. A child raised this way doesn't ask what they can get from the world. They ask what they're in relationship with, and how to honour it, truthfully and fairly.

02 AGENCY

Freedom without responsibility is chaos. Responsibility without freedom is obedience. We ask for both.

Children are born with agency. It isn't ours to hand out as a reward for good behaviour; our part is simply not to take it away. Freedom isn't "I can do anything." It's "I can choose, knowing my choices affect others", and my freedom ends where it takes away someone else's. Agency means children have a genuine say in their learning, their environment and the systems they're part of, and are equally expected to own their choices, actions and impact. Their voice isn't symbolic; it shapes the world they live in.

Autonomy grows with age and readiness. A three-year-old might choose what to play, what to wear or when to rest; a twelve-year-old might help decide how a project or a shared space is run. The principle stays the same: as much real choice as a child can carry, and a little more to grow into.

Owning our impact includes owning our mistakes. When we get something wrong, we acknowledge it, apologise, make amends, try again and we forgive others when they do the same. Mistakes are how we learn, not something to hide.

03 CREATION

Making, learning, and inventing aren't things we schedule. They're how we live.

A child shouldn't wait for "creative time" to think, build or improve something; that's simply what being alive looks like, every day. Creation begins with curiosity: asking questions, admitting what we don't know and being willing to change our minds.

And because every act of creation costs something - materials, energy, attention - we don't hide that cost. We want children to feel it, understand it and make things worth that cost.

04 JOY

Joy is a baseline, not a mood. It comes from inside, not from what happens to you. â€‹

This isn't about shielding children from hard things, or expecting them to be happy all the time. Sadness, anger and fear are real and welcome, and no child should feel they have to hide them. What we want is steadiness: an inner resilience strong enough that difficulty can happen to them without becoming them.

Joy starts within and deepens when it's shared with the people and the world we're connected to. Adversity can visit. It doesn't get to move in.

05 REGENERATION

We don't just do less harm. We leave things more alive than we found them.

This goes further than sustainability. Plants, animals and people are treated as one system, not a hierarchy with humans at the top. Nobody owns the planet here. Everybody's part of it.

In practice, this means children grow food and plants, care for living things, repair before they replace and help restore the spaces they use. They also learn that people and relationships can be regenerated too, through care and attention.
